We are Anvil Station!

Our club was founded in 2016 by a group of nerds who love cosplay and Halo! We come from many different walks of life and were all brought together by one of the greatest video games ever, and a desire to become the characters from said game. Some of our members build costumes professionally for movie studios, and some are only barely starting their costume making journey! Inclusion is at the core of our club just as much as Halo is.

A better chunk of our members are located out of Southern California. Other members are scattered up the west coast and around the United States.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why the name Anvil Station?

Anvil Station, within the Halo lore, is a facility where Spartans and Sangheili soldiers trained together. We felt it was a fitting setting to base our club around.

How do I join?

Follow up and let us know you’re interested in joining! Once you’ve got a Halo cosplay you are happy with, meet up with us at any event! Keep an eye on our upcoming events to see when you can introduce yourself!

Are you guys a part of the 405th?

We are not. We work with the 405th at various events and some of our members are also active within the 405th, however our club operates entirely as our own entity.

Can I be in this group and other costuming groups?

Of course. Our members are a part of many different costuming groups! We would never have any expectation of exclusivity.

How did you build your armors?

There are a lot of different processes. More popular methods involve EVA foam or bondo, and they almost always involve starting with a pepakura file.

We will be making tutorials and access to files on this website more readily available in the future. Until then, we can offer you our best resource: OUR BRAINS.

Which characters from Halo can I cosplay?

Any of them. Pick a favorite character from any of the campaigns, films, comics or books, or bring your multiplayer character to life!

Love Red Vs. Blue? So do we! RvB characters are equally accepted!

Bow chicka wow wow!

Does my cosplay have to be screen accurate?

Nope! We respect groups such as the 501st which strive for screen accuracy. As far as our own group goes, everyone is at a different skill level, and we all have the right to be as creative, and sometimes silly, as we want to be!

Punny Spartans Master Chef and Halo Kitty

Our only requirement is that your costume be Halo related!

So I can build a Shrek / Halo crossover cosplay?

I mean we aren’t going to stop you.

Why the relaxed costume requirements?

We believe the quickest way to learn is to get involved and immerse yourself in the cosplay world with people who have the talent you wish to pick up. On multiple occasions, we’ve had members join up with the most simple of cosplays who within a year or two built a full suit of armor all with the help of our community. Those members would then turn around and help the next newcomers.

Do I have to build my own armor?

Building your own armor is a rewarding experience and if you take that journey, you won’t regret it. That said, there is nothing wrong with buying your suit! Commissions support fellow members of the cosplay community and it is just as respectable a route to take as building your suit yourself.

How about store bought?

Not a bad way to save some dough and still have a great time at a con!

Can I commission a suit from you guys?

Some members of our community take commissions. Put your request out there and see who is able to take on such a project. Just keep a few things in mind:

  • A good build takes time, so please have a reasonable expectation for how long it will take for your costume or prop to be completed. The builder will let you know how long it would take, and will keep you updated if that changes.
  • A good build takes money. Whoever takes your project will put whatever price as they see fit on it, and will more than likely expect a down payment. Artists need to eat too!

Do you guys actually, like, PLAY Halo?

Lol yes, we have community game nights in which we hop online and play together. Halo is, obviously, one of our main choices. We also get some Fortnite action in.

Do you guys only cosplay Halo?

Nope. Our members also cosplay other characters from many other fandoms, from Star Wars to D.C. We jokingly refer to this as extracurricular activity!

Is the Monitor on your homepage real?

Yup! Err, well it’s not an actual Forerunner ancilla housing an ancient human consciousness composed into digital form and acting as caretaker to a giant space hula-hoop. Not yet anyways.

But it was built by one of our members and we are all very proud of it. He’s a bit of an unofficial mascot!

Why is Chris Loomis so damn sexy?

He is a gift from the Gods.

Chris Loomis: The sexiest human being alive.
